What are ChatGPT Ads?
Ads that ChatGPT shows below an answer when they fit the conversation. They're labeled as sponsored and kept separate from the answer.
Who sees the ads?
People who use ChatGPT for free or on the Go plan. Anyone with Plus, Pro or a plan for businesses or schools doesn't see ads, and neither do accounts OpenAI identifies as belonging to minors.
Can advertisers see my conversations?
No. Advertisers get no chats and no personal details, only overall figures such as views and clicks. If someone messages an advertiser directly through an ad, the advertiser only sees those messages.
Does an ad influence the answer?
No. According to OpenAI, ads run on separate systems, and advertisers can neither shape nor reorder the answers. Who gets named in the answer doesn't depend on who advertises.
Which industries aren't allowed to advertise?
In Europe, health services, legal advice and most financial services aren't allowed, and neither are alcohol, tobacco, gambling or individual housing listings. Some financial products are open to approved advertisers. We check this before we start.
Can I advertise in other countries too?
Yes, you can target countries and regions, for example Germany from Mallorca. But some new ad accounts can only show ads in their home country at first. Other countries are added once identity is verified and a set amount of ad spend has been reached in the home country.
Does my website need anything special for this?
It should answer exactly the question the ad is about. And OpenAI must be allowed to review it: the review crawler OAI-AdsBot must not be blocked. We check both for you.
Is there any data to go on yet?
No benchmarks yet. OpenAI itself says there aren't any for industries or campaigns so far. That's why we start with a test within fixed limits.
What does it cost?

Do I still need Google Ads then?
That depends on what you offer. Google Ads reaches people who search. ChatGPT Ads reaches people who ask. We recommend what fits, not automatically both.
